LIVE: Crotone vs Inter

Thank you for joining our coverage, we hope you enjoyed the game. Until next time, goodbye!

Crotone travel to the capital to face Roma next, while Inter host Sampdoria.

There goes the full-time whistle! Inter open up a 14-point gap at the top, knowing that they will be crowned champions if second-placed Atalanta fail to beat Sassuolo tomorrow. Their victory also confirms Crotone’s relegation to Serie B, with the hosts 13 points from safety with just four games left. It took over an hour for the Nerazzurri to break the deadlock, but Eriksen came off the bench to lash into the bottom corner with the aid of a deflection before Hakimi sealed the result following a clinical counter-attack in stoppage-time. Lukaku had the ball in the net beforehand, but VAR ruled the strike out for offside. It finishes 2-0 to Inter!

90′ + 3′ FULL-TIME: CROTONE 0-2 INTER

N. Barella

Assist

Internazionale

90′ + 2′ Barella won the ball in his own third and showed great athleticism to carry it up the field at pace before playing a perfectly-weighted pass into Hakimi in space.

A. Hakimi

Goal

Internazionale

90′ + 2′ GOAL!!! INTER HAVE DOUBLED THEIR LEAD THIS TIME!!! The visitors burst forward after repelling a Crotone free-kick into the middle and Barella drives up the field before playing Hakimi in, and the wing-back shows incredible composure to slot the ball through the goalkeeper’s legs from a tight angle! It’s 2-0 to Inter now!

C. Eriksen

Yellow Card

Internazionale

90′ + 1′ Eriksen now picks up a late yellow card for a poor challenge on Messias.

89′ It’s getting scrappy in the closing stages now, with three fouls given in the space of two minutes. Inter are inching closer to victory.

86′ Simy clatters into Handanovic as he throws himself at a cross from the left and the Inter goalkeeper is awarded a free-kick.

84′ NO GOAL! Perisic is deemed to have been offside when he received the ball down the left and the goal is ruled out! That was a very close call.

83′ Perisic drives down the left at pace and fires a low cross into the middle for Lukaku, who tucks a powerful, left-footed finish home from close range! However, there will be a VAR check before the goal is confirmed.

81′ WIDE! The ball drops for Simy at the back post, but the striker can’t direct his volley convincingly on target and scuffs wide of the upright from a tight angle!

79′ As the clock ticks on, Crotone find themselves on the brink of having their relegation confirmed. Should they go on to lose, they would have suffered four home defeats in a row for the first time in the top flight.

77′ BLOCK! Hakimi wins a free-kick on the right and Eriksen’s delivery finds Perisic in the centre of the box, but the substitute’s effort is charged down!

75′ Messias attempts to slide the ball through for Pereira, but the flag goes up to put a stop to the Crotone attack.

E. Rivière

Yellow Card

Crotone

73′ Riviere’s first contribution after coming off the bench is to pick up a yellow card for catching Skriniar in the face during an aerial duel.

E. Rivière

A. Ounas

Crotone

72′ Cosmi replaces Ounas with Riviere up front now as he searches for a way to get his side back on level terms.

71′ WIDE! Perisic drives forward down the left and checks inside onto his right foot before unleashing an effort towards the far corner, but he doesn’t get the curl he’s looking for and sends it wide!

R. Lukaku

Assist

Internazionale

69′ Lukaku held the ball up well with his back to goal, showing great strength to pin his marker and play a neat pass into the path of the onrushing Eriksen.

C. Eriksen

Goal

Internazionale

69′ GOAL!!! INTER HAVE BROKEN THROUGH!!! Just minutes after his introduction, Eriksen receives a layoff from Lukaku on the edge of the box and lashes a low, first-time effort that takes a deflection off Magellan on its way into the bottom-right corner past the diving Cordaz! It’s 1-0 to Inter!

M. Vulić

Ahmed Benali

Crotone

66′ Meanwhile, Cosmi responds with a substitution of his own, replacing midfielder Benali with Vulic.

I. Perišić

M. Darmian

Internazionale

66′ The final change of the three is at left wing-back, where Perisic comes on as a more offensive alternative to Darmian.

A. Sánchez

L. Martínez

Internazionale

65′ The second alteration is up front, where Martinez goes off for Sanchez in support of Lukaku.

C. Eriksen

S. Sensi

Internazionale

65′ Conte has seen enough and makes a triple-substitution in an effort to grab a winning goal. The first change sees Sensi replaced by Eriksen in midfield.

63′ Crotone are the only team yet to draw a Serie A game in 2021, with three wins and 16 defeats so far in this period. Could this be their first stalemate of the calendar year?

61′ OVER! Simy gets into a dangerous position in the box but can’t make the most of it and Inter counter. Brozovic finds Hakimi on the right side of the box and the wing-back tries to lash one at goal, but he gets under it and blazes over the bar!

59′ SAVE! Sensi’s first effort comes back off the wall, but it lands at his feet and he has another go, lashing towards the bottom-right corner, but Cordaz gets down well and holds on!

58′ Martinez is felled by Magellan and the free-kick is in a very inviting position to shoot from. Sensi stands over it ahead of the referee’s whistle.

56′ Crotone win a corner after positive play down their left and it’s swung into the middle, but Bastoni is there to head clear for Inter.

54′ Both sides have defended well since the restart, with neither keeper called into action in the second half so far.

52′ Messias is forced to head Hakimi’s right-wing cross behind for a corner, but Inter can’t make the most of the set-piece on this occasion.

50′ Inter are keeping the ball and working it around in search of an opening now. They’re squeezing up slowly and playing plenty of neat passes.

48′ The second half hasn’t started at the frenetic pace that the first was played at. Perhaps both sides would prefer a more controlled 45 minutes.

46′ We’re back underway for the second half!

Eduardo Henrique

L. Cigarini

Crotone

46′ Cosmi makes a change at half-time. Cigarini, who struggled with an injury towards the end of the first half, is off in midfield for Henrique.

Crotone have shown great bravery and commitment in the first half, closing their illustrious opponents down and blocking shots whenever possible. However, given the regularity with which Inter have gotten themselves into shooting positions, it feels as though it is just a matter of time before the champions-elect make the breakthrough. The hosts will have to maintain their belief and energy levels after the break if they want to spoil the Nerazzurri’s party.

There goes the half-time whistle! Inter have peppered the Crotone goal with shots, but haven’t been able to find a way through just yet, as the hosts have thrown themselves in front of everything. The league leaders have managed to hit the woodwork twice, with Lukaku heading against the upright before Martinez fired low against the foot of the post, but it remains 0-0 at the break!

45′ + 3′ HALF-TIME: CROTONE 0-0 INTER

45′ + 2′ Messias sees a shot blocked and Lukaku drives forward on the counter down the left, but Golemic manages to get a touch on the ball and sends it behind for a corner, which Crotone repel.

45′ SAVE! A cross from the right is half-cleared to Sensi in the box and the midfielder takes a touch before lashing a half-volley at goal from a tight angle, but Cordaz beats it behind for a corner!

44′ POST! Sensi intercepts a poor ball out from the goalkeeper and Martinez takes it down before firing it through a defender’s legs and against the post! It goes behind for a corner and Sensi finds Martinez again, this time with a cross, but the striker’s header from the back post is blocked and then headed behind!

42′ Cigarini also goes down off the ball and the midfielder is checked over by the medical team. Thankfully for the hosts, he seems to be okay and comes back on after being taken to the sidelines as a precaution.

40′ WIDE! Inter keep the ball in the final third following a short corner and it’s whipped into the middle by Barella from the right. It’s a superb cross, but Bastoni can’t direct his header on target and sends it wide! What a chance!

M. Brozović

Yellow Card

Internazionale

38′ Brozovic sees a shot from the edge of the box blocked and then hauls Ounas down to prevent a Crotone counter, earning himself a yellow card.

Pedro Pereira

A. Reca

Crotone

38′ Reca is forced off due to his injury now, with Pereira coming on to take his place at left wing-back.

37′ In the aftermath of a good chance for Martinez, Reca goes down off the ball and appears to be struggling. He may not be able to continue.

35′ BLOCK! Bastoni plays a lofted pass to Sensi on the left edge of the box and the midfielder cleverly allows it to bounce through for Martinez in the box, but the striker is closely marked and his first-time effort is blocked away!

33′ BLOCK! Cigarini steps up to the free-kick and strikes at goal, but his effort is too low and strikes the wall! The whistle then goes for a foul by Simy and Inter have a free-kick of their own.

32′ Benali is felled by Barella just a few yards outside the box and Crotone now have a free-kick in a very dangerous position. Can they make the most of it?

29′ NO PENALTY! There’s a brief stoppage as the footage is reviewed to determine whether Inter should be awarded a penalty for handball. Djidji did block Lukaku’s shot with his elbow, but his arm was tucked into his body and no spot-kick is given.

28′ BLOCK! Lukaku strikes a venomous half-volley towards the top-left corner from the edge of the box, but Djidji gets in the way to block it! The rebound falls for Martinez, who attempts an ambitious overhead kick, but it sails over the bar! There will be a VAR check to come, however.

25′ Crotone win a corner down their left and get plenty forward, but they can’t make the most of it and Inter get the ball clear.

23′ POST! Sensi whips the cross in towards the near post and Lukaku gets his head to it in the crowded box, flicking towards the far corner, but the striker sees his effort strike the post and stay out!

22′ Inter pepper the Crotone box with crosses, and Magallan slices behind for a corner after some scruffy, poorly-timed clearances from his team-mates.

19′ BLOCK! A long ball from Magallan sails over everyone in midfield and drops for Ounas in the Inter third. He wriggles past Bastoni and drives down the left side of the box, but Skriniar is there to block the resulting shot behind for a corner!

17′ BLOCK! Martinez leads a counter down the left but is forced to wait for support, allowing Crotone to scramble bodies back. It’s eventually worked to Sensi, right on the edge of the box, and the midfielder strikes a firm effort at goal, but it’s blocked away!

15′ Bastoni tries to release Darmian in behind down the left, but the wing-back goes a little early and the flag goes up for offside.

13′ Hakimi floats a deep cross in from the right, but Golemic gets to it at the back post and chests calmly back to his goalkeeper from just a few yards out.

11′ Crotone have enjoyed their fair share of possession so far and look comfortable on the ball. There’s not a great deal of urgency about their passing at the moment, however.

9′ Simy pulls off a lovely spin as Barella dives in to win the ball, getting round the midfielder and offloading the ball with composure and poise.

6′ Handanovic is forced off his line to deal with a deep cross into the box from the right and the goalkeeper can only get one hand to it, but it’s enough to parry it out of the danger zone.

4′ SAVE! Sensi makes a clever run in behind and Brozovic picks him out with a smart pass. The midfielder is one-on-one with Cordaz, but the midfielder’s low effort across goal is kept out by the goalkeeper’s outstretched leg!

3′ BLOCK! Inter respond almost immediately with an incisive attack of their own, with Sensi playing a sharp one-two with Lukaku inside the box and trying to place an effort inside the bottom-right corner, but Messias deflects it just wide of the post!

2′ SAVE! Ounas picks the ball up in the Inter half and drives purposefully at the defence, getting into the box down the left and lashing an effort high towards the near post from a tight angle, but Handanovic stands tall and keeps it out!

1′ We’re underway in Crotone!

Inter are unbeaten in 17 Serie A games, their longest unbeaten streak in a single season in the competition since February 2008.

Inter have scored 13 goals in five games against Crotone in Serie A, an average of 2.6 per game – there have been three wins for the Nerazzurri, a draw and a Rossoblu win.

Inter manager Antonio Conte, meanwhile, makes two changes despite his team’s 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona last time out. Match-winning substitute Darmian starts at left wing-back, while Sensi slots into midfield. Perisic and Eriksen, respectively, drop out of the starting line-up and are named amongst the substitutes. Arturo Vidal and Aleksandar Kolarov remain sidelined due to injury.

Crotone head coach Serse Cosmi makes just one change following his side’s 4-3 victory over fellow relegation strugglers Parma as Zanellato drops to the bench, with Benali taking his place in midfield. Striker Samuel Di Carmine misses out through injury.

Inter substitutes: Alexis Sanchez, Ivan Perisic, Andrea Pinamonti, Ionut Radu, Andrea Ranocchia, Daniele Padelli, Roberto Gagliardini, Christian Eriksen, Matias Vecino, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Ashley Young.

Inter XI (3-5-2): Samir Handanovic; Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni; Achraf Hakimi, Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic, Stefano Sensi, Matteo Darmian; Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez.

Crotone substitutes: Niccolo Zanellato, Eduardo Henrique, Gian Marco Crespi, Giuseppe Cuomo, Luis Rojas, Emmanuel Riviere, Milos Vulic, Marco Festa, Luca Marrone, Pedro Pereira, Jacopo Petriccione, Andrea Rispoli.

Crotone XI (3-5-2): Alex Cordaz; Koffi Djidji, Vladimir Golemic, Lisandro Magallan; Salvatore Molina, Junior Messias, Luca Cigarini, Ahmad Benali, Arkadiusz Reca; Adam Ounas, Simy.

If Inter defeat bottom-of-the-league Crotone – whose imminent relegation would be mathematically confirmed if they fail to win – and Atalanta do not beat Sassuolo tomorrow, the Nerazzurri will be confirmed as Serie A champions for the first time in over a decade.

Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the Serie A fixture between Crotone and Inter.
